President Zardari Stresses Merit and Transparency in Public Service Recruitment

ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – August 19, 2026) President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the importance of merit, transparency, and professionalism in public service recruitment. He made these remarks while receiving the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) Annual Report 2024 from its Chairman, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Akhtar Nawaz Satti, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, according to a presidential news release.

The President acknowledged the FPSC’s crucial role in promoting good governance by ensuring the selection of competent, talented, and deserving individuals for professional and technical positions. He praised the Commission’s reforms aimed at improving internal systems and adopting a more efficient, paperless recruitment process.

He instructed the Commission to uphold merit, transparency, and professionalism while safeguarding the public trust it has earned over the years.

The President was informed that during 2024, the FPSC recommended 1,816 candidates for appointment against vacancies in various Ministries and Divisions through general recruitment. A total of 1,722 vacancies were advertised, attracting 274,566 fresh applications.

Senator Saleem Mandviwalla was present at the meeting.
