NAB Awareness Workshop Highlights Public Servants’ Role in Curbing Corruption

BAHAWALPUR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th Aug, 2026) An awareness workshop titled “Highlighting the Role of Public Servants in Fostering a Corruption-Free Society” was organised by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Multan, in collaboration with the Commissioner Bahawalpur Division, at the Committee Room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness among government officers and employees about the importance of:

  • Transparency
  • Accountability
  • Integrity
  • Merit
  • Ethical governance

in public service. Officers from various government departments and public-sector organisations participated in the interactive session.

Keynote Speakers:

  • Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Vice Chancellor of The Islamia University of Bahawalpur
  • Prof. Dr. Sofia Farooq, Principal Quaid-e-Azam Medical College
  • Dr. Nair Mustafa, Director General Parks and Horticulture Authority

Other distinguished personalities also attended the event.

Dr. Nair Mustafa, serving as a resource person, delivered a detailed lecture on integrity, ethical values, and the role of public servants in combating corruption. He emphasised:

  • The direct impact of public servants’ conduct on public trust in government institutions.
  • The effectiveness of discouraging corruption through transparency, merit, adherence to the law, and accountability.

Commissioner Bahawalpur Division, Irfan Ali Kathia, addressed the session through a video link. He stated:

  • Building a corruption-free society was a collective and sustained effort, not the responsibility of any single institution.
  • Public servants should perform their duties with honesty, impartiality, and a strong sense of responsibility to strengthen public confidence.
  • Alongside accountability, greater awareness, ethical training, and the promotion of positive values were essential to eliminating corruption.
